- A Patent Agent is a person with a basic degree in science or engineering who possess the knowledge on patent law having qualified a patent agent examination.
- He can fight for a patent in the Patent office technically and legally but not in the Court in case of litigation.
Patent Attorney or Patent Lawyer:
- A Patent Lawyer or a Patent Attorney may or may not be a person with science or engineering knowledge; but he is a person with the qualifications of a lawyer practising in the Court of Law.
- He can draft and file a patent on behalf of any person; as well as prosecute for the patent upon cases in the Court of Law whenever the need arises.
Agents are technically and legally sound with handling a patent in the Patent Office.
Attorneys or Lawyers may or may not be technically sound but strong in legal aspects for handling cases related to patents in the Court of Law.
