PATENT AGENT EXAMINATION

The Indian Patent Agent Examination is conducted by the Indian Patent Office almost every year. A person who clears the examination will be issued with an authentic certificate by the Patent Office as an authorized patent agent of the Government of India’s Patent Office.

Patent Agents are persons authorized to practice before the Controller of Patents in the Patent Office on ehalf of a patent applicant, while providing support services such as drafting, filing and prosecuting patent applications on behalf of an applicant within the Indian Patent Office. It is also mandatory for foreign applicants to process an application for patent in the Indian Patent Office only through a patent agent. With a huge population learning and practicing technology in India, there are merely just 4000 to 5000 certified patent agents available to process applications of patents in the Indian Patent Office and almost 30-70% of them are employed with corporates and hence the overall demand for patent agents in India is almost high every year

People who are certified patent agents can practice as independent / freelance patent agents and also have higher possibilities of being hired at attractive packages by corporates because of the lesser availability of skilled professionals. INTERPRETATION OF EXAMINATION REPORTS FROM IPO

Our Hands-On training program on interpretation of examination reports from the Indian Patent Office aims at imparting the knowledge of understanding the techno-legal report from the Indian Patent Office issued upon the examination of any patent application.

Whenever any patent application is examined, the Indian Patent Office issues a report of examination which is usually called the First Statement of Objection or the First Examination Report. The report generally consists of a collection of objections which from the examiner’s point of view hinders the grant of any patent application along with citation of those prior arts and claims of other patents and recommendations on the amendments to be performed to the complete specification in order to make it apt to the procedures laid down in the Indian Patents Act, 1970 and the Patent Rules, 2003.
