- A register shall be maintained in the patent office with the following details entered
- Names and addresses of patentees
- Assignments (sale), licenses, amendments, extensions, revocation details of patents
- Details of matters influencing the ownership or validity of patents
- No notices of any trust shall be entered in the register and the same if any entered shall not affect the Controller in any manner
- The register shall be kept under the control and maintenance of the Controller as per the direction of the Central Government
- The Controller shall maintain the register of patents and / or any part of it such as floppies, DVDs or CDs or any electronic form related to a patent also safely
- Any evidence as a copy taken from the register of patents and signed by the Controller or any officially authorized persons shall be considered as an evidence bound to the Indian Evidence Act, 1872
- If the register is kept wholly or partly in electronic form
- any reference of words mentioned as entered or registered or rectified in the register shall also mean an electronic register.
